We All know at this point that I am incredibly inspired by the ocean, BUT did you know that before I lived in a beach town, I lived basically on the prairie?

Growing up, I lived in the suburbs of Saint Louis. I wasn’t far from expansive planes and fields surrounded by sparse woods. I never really spent time in the West, so when my parents surprised the rest of the family with a trip to Yellowstone I was (unsurprisingly) very excited to explore the geological wonders of this National Park.

One thing about me, I actually got started in photography by traveling. I have been to 16 different countries and explored so much out of the states! Something I haven’t done though, is explored much of the United States west of saint Louis, so once I knew we would be making a trip out west to big sky country I knew for sure I would be bringing my camera.

It was SO nice to be outside and unplug for a week! The wind brought the fall weather and lots of incredible colors. I even had a moment where a Deer came out of the woods and approached me which was WILD. The whole trip was so beautiful and the mountain air definitely did us some good.

While we were there, we stayed in the cutest little cabins at Pahaska Teepee on the East entrance of the park. Buffalo Bill actually built a lodge for himself on the property and entertained guests there. The lodge itself was so incredible and its over a century old. Our cabin was off grid with no wifi, no service really and only electricity to keep the lamps and heat running at night- perfect if you ask me. Bears and wolves are sighted on the property regularly which is so beyond cool to me.

We also went to Grand Teton national park and hiked up the mountain from Jenny Lake which was so gorgeous. When we did this hike we narrowly missed an encounter with a bear on the trail- which we were bummed about BUT not too bummed because the whole trip to the Tetons was Gorgeous.

Here are just some of MANY photos from our trip. I hope it provides you with some Fall escapism and hopefully inspires a trip to Yellowstone

I Loved our time in Yellowstone and Grand Tetons so much! It was so incredible to see so much wildlife around and learn about all of the ecosystems that exist here. If there is one thing I am bummed about is that you definitely cannot touch the fluffy cows!

It was also refreshing to have some time in the mountains. I love how grounded and earthy this trip was. Sometimes, it is nice to have that peace of feeling the support of the Earth under your feet.

Anyway, if you’ve been to the Great Planes in the West, you know there is something so beautiful and special about the land here. I can’t wait to go back! Hope you enjoyed the photos! Stay tuned for more travel updates :)
