WHAT IS PATHOS ANYWAY?

Do you remember Ethos, Pathos, and Logos from Middle School?

For me, the Ethos are the ethics in which I run business, the Logos is the logic, and the Pathos is my Passion, an intricate balance of managing heart and mind. For me, my work lies within the connections I make, and how building relationships can translate into visual imagery that brings a net positive into the world. And these relationships are not just limited to individuals, but extend to the natural world, the items we keep, the creations we share. That is the motivation for Pathos Collective.

Pathos Collective is built on trying to tell the stories of People and places that make up my community through an editorial lens.

MEET LAUREN

PHOTOGRAPHER, ARTIST, AND WATER WOMAN.

Hi! I am so glad you’re here! If there is one thing about me, it’s that I bring midwestern charm to LA cool and they meet right in the middle. I was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri, but have lived ALL over the country! Minnesota, Florida, Pennsylvania, and now most recently Los Angeles, California- which is lucky for me because I am an ocean girl at heart and a sucker for good tacos and margs! I’m Endlessly inspired by the natural world around me, but I bring a bit of fun to the magic that is there too. I LOVE working in the ocean and actually in large part owe my start in photography to the big blue herself.

I mentioned before that I grew up in Missouri, far far away from the ocean. The first time I ever saw the ocean I was 6 years old and in the most stunning place to experience the beauty of the ocean for the first time- Hawaii! I walked into the water and caught a fish with my hands, and from that moment, I was quite literally hooked on anything ocean related. Growing up I was afforded the ability to travel, and as you can probably guess, those travels led me around the world and into the blue. 16 countries later, I have a well rounded eye for photography and a passion to keep experiencing the world around me. Now, I work in Southern California, photographing the ocean below the surface and on her shores with like minded salty souls. BUT that isn’t all…

Photography is more than just a couple of camera clicks, or trying to get “the vibe”. It’s all of that and then some. To me, it’s telling a story with a passion, to connect the senses by appealing to a larger purpose which is to advocate for living in tune with our natural surroundings, and therefore making us more in tune with ourselves.
