Sun Steeped Saturdays

WHY GOING OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE WITH A GROUP OF LADIES IS SO IMPORTANT

Recently, I’ve realized I work I work with so many women. The majority of my clients are women, and when they reach out to me It’s usually during a transition period in their lives. Whether it’s trying to work on building a business, or documenting them in the fresh first months of motherhood, there’s always a sense that we’re building something. This in particular for me is relatable, especially since running a business is new for me as well.

I started to make a mental note on the topics of conversation that we would have during sessions, and a lot of them revolved around relatability, feeling a little disconnected from ourselves and from others around us ESPECIALLY with other women. There’s a level of anxiety that is- at least for me- definitely relatable when it comes to connecting with people especially when I’ve never met them- sometimes even my clients!

It occurred to me that since so many of my sessions end with statements from my clients like “thank you for holding space for me”, or “this is the most fun I’ve had in a long time”, or “I feel truly beautiful when I see these photos of myself” I knew I was doing something right. BUT, Could there be a way to get women who all feel somewhat similar to gather, connect, and explore together?

Science often talks about the importance and benefits of female freindships, and that with them we feel heard and supported. Friendships lower the risk of health complications as we grow, and they increase our quality of life. We all want to connect, and that’s why I created Sun Steeped Saturdays.

Ari in the Kelp forest for the first time!

I help my first Sun Steeped Saturday on the 24th of August and had a small group of ladies join me on a trip to explore the kelp forests off the shores of Catalina Island. I was super nervous in full transparency! I was worried since there was supposed to be a larger group of people who came, and couldn’t last minute. I kept thinking “what if this fails because it was marketed to be a group of ladies and now there’s only just a few of us? What if no one has a good time?” I, in that moment felt VULNERABLE.

BUT

Something so so awesome happened! Everyone that went had an awesome time and was able to explore and go out of their comfort zone and we did it together! And the best part was after doing our dive, the more fun we had through out the day. From post dive tacos, to another mini snorkel sesh lounging on the beach, the day progressed so naturally and in a way that was fun and enjoyable for everyone. Even though there was a ton of change during the process of setting this up, I realized that we all benefit from having experiences like this. Surrendering our expectations and allowing Things to happen organically allowed the space to connect more authentically with each other, and to genuinely become immersed in the shared experiences of being in the ocean together. By the end of the day, I think we were all sad to part ways and head back to the mainland.

Even though the day went by fast, the experience was special for us all, and I can’t wait to plan the next one. I think we Grow through what we go through which is why putting ourselves out there is so important especially when we have the opportunity to do something we wouldn’t normally do on our own. My hope is to make these available to allow for more ladies to join, and invite other ladies as well. Through out the Year, I am hoping to plan Bi-Monthly outings, coupled with Bi-monthly local events like a beach days. If this sounds like it could be in your wheelhouse, stay up to date with me by signing up for emails, or following me on instagram for updates! I am so excited to continue making Sun Steeped Saturdays happen!
